Story of Us

‘Allah is the Best Planner’

Asking the Owner of this world

A few years ago, there was one night in the holy land, in front of the holy Kabah, Dipta whispered, asking Allah to grant him someone who can be his half, a light for his home, and a best friend both for this world and the afterlife. Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, Indah asked Allah for a life partner who’s patient and kind, an imam who can lead her to a brighter path of life and to be a better person.

He is the absolute owner of everything in this world, afterall. To whom we could ask if not to The Almighty?

The best things in life come when you least expect it

This pandemic affected people in the whole world, and our live interactions have been limited to the way we had never imagined before.

We did not expect to meet new friends in this situation, let alone future spouses, but Allah has different plans, He showed us the way. We've met in a completely unexpected event, virtually. How could we expect? We live in different cities, even different islands. But hey, nothing is impossible for Allah.

This is the way

We decided to meet face-to-face in Jakarta. It was a mixed feeling for both of us, but we were excited. We both resigned to Allah’s will, but we know we have the best intent, to fulfill half of our deen. If this is the way, then so be it. Turns out, we were connected to each other on the same wavelength. We indeed have different personalities, but we felt that we complete each other.

The decision

After some time getting to know each other, We realized that we want the same thing. Our Prophet Muhammad S.A.W (PBUH) said that “Whoever marries has achieved one half of one's religion.” So, by saying Bismillah, we decided to tie the knot, hoping that this will be the road to jannah for both of us. Āmīn.

    Congratulations Dipta and Indah! Wishing you guys great journey ahead of you. We were Dipta's housemate back in Pittsburgh and shared many great moments of friendship together. We ate out together a lot, watched movies, spent a lot of time chatting in the living area, and many others. We miss his sudden laughters bursting out of his room when he watched tv series or something funny. I remember one day 1013 Mirror St inhabitants got crazy with sesame oil and we started putting it in anything we cooked. Dipta started using copious amount of sesame oil in his indomie. Smelled crazy good and I copied that technique too. It tasted crazy good too. I (Mike) also remember Dipta drove me to and back home from my cataract surgery in 2016. If I recall correctly, he needed to take some time off from his work to accompany me. It took longer than expected, but he stayed there the whole time. Thanks Dipta for being a great friend! We miss you and hope to see you again in the near future. Once again, congratulations for your wedding. Stay happy and stay awesome!
